The SenseUp Approach ™ is a trademarked method created by Kerry Evetts, an Occupational Therapist with a Masters degree and extensive clinical experience and advanced training in sensory integration theory and practice.  

The SenseUp Approach ™ is used by occupational therapists when providing  OT services to children with sensory challenges.

This approach embodies affirming and child-led interactions with young people, primarily 9 years and under, although still has relevance through the teen years.  

Theoretical Foundations 

The SenseUp Approach ™ draws on theories from several sources, including Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI ®), Polyvagal Theory by Stephen Porges, and Interoception by Kelly Mahler, among others.

Training in The SenseUp Approach ™ 

The SenseUp Approach™ Course is for occupational therapists working in paediatrics. We focus on understanding neuro-development from a sensory neuroscience perspective to more deeply understand our client's challenges and strengths. We focus on a child-led, individualised approach to instil this theory into everyday practice.

I am Kerry

I have identified as a 'sensory' OT since 2008. Although I had already been working as an OT for over a decade, learning about sensory processing created a monumental shift in me as a person and an OT.

I had always liked being an OT but when I started incorporating a sensory lens into my work in paeds I realised I truly loved being an OT.  I had never felt as fulfilled and gratified in my work!

Fast forward 15 years with a published Masters thesis (in sensory modulation measures), immigration to Australia, and a life-threatening event - and I discovered my true calling - to teach - about sensory of course! 

Now, I use what I've learned over my long and joyful OT career to support and nurture OTs who also want to be sensory-informed and sensory-affirming. I love to show OT's how they can transform their careers and their sensory clients' lives. 

I have LOVED my time completing the course and workshop with you and learning alongside every one else.  I really feel I have developed my knowledge significantly and can support my team to a higher level.  My goal in 2024 was to focus on PD and developing my skills as a therapist.
